Principal receives Art Leadership Award

DJMS Principal, Ms. Anna Campbell was awarded the Nightingale Award for Asian Culture Art Leadership Excellence in recognition of her leadership role in providing exemplenary Art Programs and Denn John Middle school participation in promoting Appreciation of Asian Culture through the Arts. The recognition was presented by The International Nurses Association of America (INAA) last December 17th, 2011 at the INAA Gala Night Celebration held in Eden Roc Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida. A selection of Japanese inspired art by DJMS students were featured at the said event.

Art at the Orlando Repertory

DJMS Art students will have a “Pinkalicious” art display at the Orlando Repertory, which will be showcasing PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL from January 19th through February 19th, 2012. Pinkalicious is the story of a girl who loves pink so much; she wants everything in her life to be pink. After over-indulging in pink cupcakes, she awakes the next morning- pink! Afflicted with pinkititis, she must eat green and healthy foods to return to normal.

Ecology Studies

All 7th grade science classes have been studying Ecology for the last 6 weeks. Specifically how humans impact the environment. To find out how many Earths it takes to supply your resouces take the following quiz.

Yearbook Sales-Yearbooks are still on sale and are now $30.
- You can customize your book with your name, and icon, extra autograph pages, etc.
-Buy spaces in the yearbook for a "shout out" or send a Twitter message to a friend!
-If you are in 7th or 8th grade and want to help create the yearbook, pick up an application in the media center to join the committee!!! Our first meeting will be January 12th, after school, and location to be announced.

Dress Code

1) collared shirts - white, navy, maroon, grey
2) blue or khaki pants, shorts or skirts ( shorts and skirts must fall clearly below finger tips)
3) sweaters, hoodies, jackets - must be zipper or buttoned
4) Mohawks are okay, unnatural hair colors are not
5) piercings - ears and one nose piercing acceptable. No lip, eyebrow or tongue.
6) undershirts can be any color
7) long sleeve t-shirts must be worn under collared shirts
8) rubber soled athletic shoes
